After a 20 year career flying jets in the Air Force he began working in the economic development arena, most notably as the director of the Technology Coast Manufacturing and Engineering Network, a consortium consisting of 30 high-technology companies seeking to leverage their collective strength for business program development and joint-venture opportunities. He later co-founded a high-tech recruiting company and then later left to pursue his writing and photography full time.

He is a member of the the Air Force Association, the chambers of commerce of  Destin, and South Walton County.  He has a Bachelors degree in Business Administration (Marketing) and a Masters of Systems Management.
